Based on the AMCC (IBM) 32-bit PowerPC 405GPr 400MHz RISC processor, TAMS MOAB Embeddable Single Board Computer offers an OEM platform for software development and integration into custom equipment. 

MOAB is a half-size, PIC-MG form factor board that may be used as a standalone single board computer or installed in a PCI passive backplane chassis.

PCI Implementation:    

• 33 MHz, 32 bits, 3.3 volt signaling, 5 volt tolerant, universal keying.

• Useable with Acrosser or othe PICMG style passive backplane.

• Supports up to four external cards, all with bus master capability.

• USB and secondary LAN chip on common PCI bus (internal to board).

RS-232 Implementation:

• Eight-wire interface on nine pin male connector at PCI backplate, four-wire interface on 10 pin header.  

• Baud rates programmable in 405GPr chip up to 307 Kbaud.  

• NS16550 compatible interface.

USB Implementation:

• Three physical ports, three controllers that can be shared by them.

• One EHCI, two OHCI controllers.  . 5 amp current sourcing capability per port.  Common 10 pin header for the two internal ports

• High-Speed and Full-Speed USB supported, host side.

Memory:

• 512 KB bootrom, protected from accidental erasure by hardware jumper.

• 128 MB NAND flash.

• EEPROM 4 KB for configuration parameters.

• 64 MB SDRAM, 133 MHz.

Software:

• RedBoot provided in bootrom as boot code.

• 2.4 and 2.6 Linux ports are provided.

• An eCos port provides a RTOS capability.

• Cross-compile environment eases software development effort.

Note:
The board is not intended as a general-purpose computer, so no keyboard or mouse interfaces are provided.  For development, a console is typically connected via RS-232.

A PC running Red Hat Linux 9 is required for the software development environment

The RiscWatch port provides a powerful capability for program development, file transfer, and system debugging.  Use of the OCD port (On Chip Debug) requires hardware like the Macraigor Systems mpDemon.  Abatron and IBM also produce similar products.

The RedBoot code provided allows TFTP file transfers.  It can load software into a JFFS2 file system in the main flash storage.  Remote access to RedBoot is available via telnet.
