TAMS Network Clock SynchronizerThese programs are for users of BASIC Workstation only. If you want to synchronize the clock on a client system running HP-UX, see your System Administrator for the appropriate utility program. There are four files included on the 3.5" floppy disk. The first is called "SRMCLOCK" and contains a CSUB called "Read_srmclock" which does the synchronizing. Two other files, "SYNCHRO" and "ZONECHG" can be used to synchronize the clock, and adjust for time zone variations, respectively, or used as examples for writing your own code. A fourth program, called "TEST" is included for example purposes as well. The example system for which these instructions are written has its own 3.5" floppy disc drive at location "700,1" and SRM at location "REMOTE 21,0" If your system has different addresses, modify these instructions accordingly. InstallationWe suggest that these programs be copied onto the SRM/UX server so all the clients can have access to them. Start with a workstation with a 3.5" floppy drive. After booting the workstation on the SRM, execute the following (alter addresses if necessary): MSI ":,700,1" CREATE DIR "BASICLK:REMOTE 21,0" COPY "SRMCLOCK" TO "BASICLK/SRMCLOCK:REMOTE 21,0" COPY "SYNCHRO" TO "BASICLK/SYNCHRO:REMOTE 21,0" COPY "ZONECHG" TO "BASICLK/ZONECHG:REMOTE 21,0" COPY "TEST" TO "BASICLK/TEST:REMOTE 21,0" SynchronizingNow that the files are copied onto the SRM system, synchronizing the Workstation clock with the SRM/UX host system is easily accomplished. To use the program, execute the following: MSI "BASICLK:REMOTE 21,0" GET "SYNCHRO" RUN The clock is now synchronized. It is possible that the SRM system is set to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) without a local timezone adjustment. If so, the workstation's TIMEZONE IS system variable should be set or changed. The supplied program "ZONECHG" will do this for you, or you can do it yourself: refer to the Language Reference Guide under TIMEZONE IS. Ordering InformationPart #: 50991 |
