TAMS 70622 Card

PCI, GPIO for HP-UX Workstations

PCI, GPIO for HP Workstations.

Take advantage of the standardization of computer architectures to use the PCI bus in your HP workstation to host your GPIO card. Hewlett Packard has standardized on PCI as the bus of choice for its PC’s and workstations. Take full advantage of your computer's slots with a TAMS 70622 GPIO Plug & Play interface card.

Plug & Play Flexibility

The GPIO interface plugs into the workstation's PCI slot to give you control flexibility with GPIO.

The TAMS 70622 card operates in both 3.3V and 5V PCI.

The PCI standard defines an interface which can work in most PC’s that use 5 Volts, and in Hewlett Packard’s newest workstations which support only the 3.3 Volt standard. The ability of the TAMS interface card to work at either voltage level offers unprecedented re-configuration possibilities and flexibility.

In some applications I/O performance is not an issue, but with instrument control the computer should always be waiting for the instrument and not the other way around.

Now that PCI is supported, the TAMS 70622 as bus master can deliver through the PCI bus all the speed that is needed in instruments control.

The TAMS 70622 is configured with software rather than by setting switches on the GPIO hardware interface. This allows cards to be reconfigured without the bother of opening the computer.

GPIO is a parallel interface that is flexible and allows a variety of custom connections.

The TAMS 70622 provides for 16 bit data exchange and extra status and control lines, a choice of handshake methods, several data-latching options, and selectable data width and polarity.

Enhanced Mode

The TAMS 70622 is based on HP’s original definition of the 98622 GPIO standard. The TAMS card meets all the original specifications, and can operate with the original code, but in addition it added the full functionality of the HP E2074/5 enhanced mode to give bi-directional data and auxiliary status and control lines.

Features like bi-directional polling, configurable PCTL delay, etc. So you can use the TAMS card with any application that was developed for HP’s cards.

System Requirements

1 PCI slot
HP-UX 10.20
HP E2091(x) SICL I/O Libraries

Software Compatibility

Whether you are using HP-VEE, BASIC/UX or programming in ‘C’ with the SICL library your code will now run at full performance without modification. And thanks to HP’s software architecture once the TAMS driver is loaded, which is done once at installation, the TAMS card can be used in any application without requiring more computer overhead or any changes to the code.

For years TAMS has been working with HP and this is one more product to give you flexibility, save money and reduce your cost of testing. TAMS has built a reputation in supporting Hewlett Packard test systems. In addition to TAMS networking software TAMS offers a range of I/O products that compliment or improve Hewlett Packard’s product offerings.

GPIO Cable

The HP98622 and E2074/5 GPIO Interfaces used an HP cable, part number 5061-4209. This part number has been replaced by 5061-4210.  This cable is pin compatible with the TAMS 70622 card.
