How to configure TAMS 60488:(This assumes the card is installed and the drivers have been installed. You can install them in either order, but you must reboot after installing the software before you can configure.) First you run the TAMS CONFIG utility: START -- PROGRAMS -- HP_IO LIBRARIES -- TAMS 60488. Look in the window that pops up and if you have already configured the card, just make note of the NAME - like hpib or hpib7 or such. If the card hasn't been configured, then click [ADD]. Select the TAMS 60488 PCI HPIB Card, and click [OK]. Now you choose a symbolic name for the card. If it is the only HPIB card, you might call it hpib. If there will be more than one card, you might want to match the name to the logical unit number you will choose. This is somewhat analogous to a Select Code. The first HPIB card might thus be named hpib7, and assigned a logical unit of 7. Both of these values are arbitrary, as long as they are unique. After setting name and logical unit numbers, you enter the PCI card number. This is not the PCI slot number, but is the ordinal number of the TAMS 60488 cards, starting from slot 1. In other words, the first TAMS 60488 interface is assigned #1, and the second #2, etc. Then you set the HPIB Address and whether the card is to be system controller. The last item is "DMA with termchr". This parameter only affects incoming transfers in DMA mode. For nearly all BASIC operations, it will not have an effect. When you finish making the changes, click [OK]. You do not need to reboot after configuring the TAMS 60488 interface. Click here to return to "How to talk to the card from BASIC for Windows" |
